Course Leaders

Offering the Resilience & Acceptance in the Face of Collapse course depends entirely on the generosity and leadership of past participants who assume the role of Course Leader. A Course Leader is someone who has completed the course at least once and takes on the overall organizational and logistical responsibilities to facilitate the course for others.

Typically collaborating with another Course Leader, the primary responsibilities of Course Leaders include:

  • Determining the dates and times for the course they will lead
  • Customizing a few course-specific documents and support materials
  • Communicating with course members through email when there are issues or questions.
  • Managing the technological aspects of the course, such as the Zoom link, admitting participants from the waiting room, and setting up and overseeing breakout rooms for small group discussions. (If Zoom seems overwhelming to you, you are not alone! We have several volunteers who are prepared to mentor you, attend the first couple of sessions, or even handle zoom for the duration of the course, if you find it necessary. Don’t let that stop you!)
  • Leading and presenting the opening session of the course (Session 1) using materials and scripts prepared by the Course Developers, as well as facilitating Sessions 2 and 9
  • Ensuring that overall group dynamics align with the course and group guidelines

If you are interested in becoming a course leader, begin by filling out the Course Leader Information Form below, which will give us all the information we need to start you on your way. We ask all prospective course leaders to first complete the course, then attend a Course Leader Tutorial, a one-hour online meeting where we can outline the responsibilities of a course leader, help you connect with a co-lead, and show the resources available for the lead team. We will contact you by email when we have course leader tutorials scheduled.

And thank you for considering this offering of your time and energy to introduce others to this experience!

If you have questions, please contact our Course Leader Support team.

Below are two forms. The first, the Course Leader Information Form, is particularly useful for us in helping to connect people who are looking for a co-leader for a course offering.

The second form, the R & A Course Proposal Form, is the form you can use once you have a co-leader and have chosen a date and time for a course. It gives us all the information we need to create a course listing on the website for your course offering. Only one of the co-leaders needs to fill out the form, but it contains information for both co-leaders.

Schedule for Course Leader Tutorials

The one-hour and fifteen minute course leader tutorials are offered intermittently at various times of day, and are generally scheduled to coincide with the ending date of R & A courses, when there are a number of people who wish to explore leading a course. If you fill out the Course Leader Information Form above, we will alert you when there are available tutorials. If none of the scheduled times work for you, contact Steve Simmer to discuss other possible times, simmer@acceptingcollapse.com.
